Your Generation’s Faith May Delay God’s Judgment

America is growing more wicked!

It is likely that judgment may come to this once great nation in the future.  I am not a doomsday prophet, or one who seeks to be overly dramatic.  But the sins of America will have consequences.  The more we flaunt our sin before a holy God, turning our backs on him at every opportunity, the sooner we bring forth God’s righteous indignation.

Yet, I want those of the younger generations to consider that their faith can make a difference.  Even in a land of great wickedness, their faith can cause judgment to be delayed.

I know this because of the example of Josiah.  Josiah, known for being the 8 year old king, inherited a wicked nation. The nation of Judah was deprived with immoral idolatry and headed for certain judgment.  But when Josiah was 16, he began to seek the Lord.  At the age of 20, he began to purge the idols and their places of worship from the land.  At the age of 26, when the book of the Law was discovered in the temple when repairs were being made, Josiah wept during its reading.  He tore his clothes in shame and fear of his nation’s actions.  He set about a restoration within Judah to restore obedience to the Law.  They celebrated the Passover festival as the law instructed.

Josiah saw a prophetess to learn if the nation would be destroyed for its years of wickedness.  The word of the Lord to Josiah was that God would bring destruction and punishment, but it would come after his lifetime.  He would be sparred such miseries, because he had humbled himself before God.  God had heard his prayers!  God honored his repentance and faith.

Judgment was delayed because of this young king’s faith.  He was only a teenager and young man in his 20s when he did all of these great deeds.  Yet, he helped delay judgment.

What about your faith?  What about the faith of those 16, 20, and 26?  Your generation’s faith, even your personal faith, may be the reason that God delays judgment.  Let us shine bright magnifying Jesus in this world of darkness!

Josiah’s story is found in 2 Chronicles 34-35

  1. I agree in hope and prayer that “Our generation’s faith, even my personal faith, may be the reason that God delays judgment.”
