What’s Going On in My Life Now

I didn’t get to publish a blog post last week as there was so much going on in my life.  If I could, let me share with you a  an update on our life.

  • It seems that death has been an all too common unwelcome visitor in our family the last couple of years.  This last week Amanda’s aunt Joyce Mickey passed suddenly.  Her funeral was on Wednesday of last week.  Joyce was a faithful Christian. She was a constant source of encouragement to me in this website and listened to most of the sermons posted.  Recently I had just talked to her about blogposts and sermons at VBS.  She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  She was planning on being at their game this past Wednesday, instead it was her funeral.  What a reminder of the brevity of life.  One key lesson from her life, was the fact that she could laugh with you about herself.  She didn’t take herself too serious and possessed the ability to laugh at her mistakes and humorous qualities.  She will be missed.
  • We have been stressed and covered up in our time with building a house on the farm.  We believe that this will be the only time we build a home.  This might not be our “forever” home, but it is our only one to build!  There are so many decisions, and all involve money and issues that matter to you in the future.  There are so many items that have to be decided and countless purchases to make.  We are trying to enjoy the ride, which we do most of the time, but it gets nerve-wrecking always having something to do!
  • This past weekend Amanda spoke on a ladies’ day in Mountain Home, AR.  I hear she did a wonderful job, which doesn’t surprise me.  She worked very hard in preparation and had to really prioritize it with disciplined effort because of all the other responsibilities she has on her at this time.  She has a talent for speaking and I hope she can use this talent more in the future for the service of the King.  If you are looking for a ladies’ day speaker I know a good one I can put you in contact with!
  • Our church family is starting the process of appointing additional church leaders (elders and deacons).  I am preaching on these topics for most of September and October.  It reminds me once again of the importance of church leadership.  We are praying that God will bless 7 Oaks through the process and that God will raise up men in the future to be mighty leaders for Him.

These are a few of the things that have been going on our in my life.  Thanks for reading and caring!
