God Yearns for Your Love!

Classic love stories like Romeo and Juliet focus on how the lovers cannot live without one another.  I think of the famous line from Last of the Mohican’s, when Nathaniel says before leaving his love Cora, “You survive.  You stay alive no matter what occurs.  I will find you . . no matter how long it takes, no matter how far.  I will find you.”  Their hearts yearned for each other!

We understand this kind of yearning for a lover, but do we realize the God of the universe yearns for our love?

Listen to James 4:5:

“Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”?

God yearns for us to love him!  For us to be devoted and loyal to Him.  He wants our heart.  The brethren James is writing have divided loyalties.  They are befriending the world, while claiming to walk with Jesus.  I like the Message translation,  “And do you suppose God doesn’t care? The proverb has it that “he’s a fiercely jealous lover.””

If you are feeling unworthy, unlovable, or simply no count;  remember God yearns for you!  He seeks you like he sought Adam and Eve after their first sin.  He loves you!  Don’t resist His love.
